1st Ever...RUM AND STOKE RACE!!!!!
Here's the details:
All participants will receive a map (or a couple of maps) detailing the route specifically (a la Corey and Tyler), this way NO ONE SHOULD GET LOST! This is a cross country race across Ottawa involving bar stops and alcohol consumption, that's why it is an AGE OF MAJORITY race (sorry to the rest of you).
How the race works:
- Entrance fee covers non bar alcohol during race (explained
below).
- There will be a minimum drink consumption during the race with
bonus items along the way for time bonuses.
- Finishing place is yet to be determined but will either be a
friends' place (of myself and Tyler) or a patio of somesort.
- The SAFEST ROUTE POSSIBLE will be marked out to avoid
drunken mishaps, however this is an OUTLAW race....
- Straight run of the course, without stops, would take about 30
minutes to complete so the race is expected to last 1.5 hours.
The Course (thus far):
- Start at Majors Hill Park near Parliament Hill. When the
(hypothetical) gun goes off, each participant must do one
shot of rum and the race commences.
- First stop is at the Dominion Tavern in the Byward Market.
Each participant must consume one Red Cap stubby. For a
2 minute time bonus, the participant must consume a shot of
snakebite.
- Second stop is at Corey and Tyler's apartment. Each rider must
consume one shot of Raspberry Sourpuss. There are 2
possible time bonuses at this location, either: one extra shot
of Sourpuss for a 1 minute time bonus; or two extra shots of
Sourpuss for a 2 minute time bonus.
- Third stop is at the Royal Oak on Main St.. There each rider
must consume one margarita. For a 5 minute time bonus, a
participant must drink a vodka martini.
- Fourth stop is at the top of the Carleton Parking Garage. There
each participant must consume one shot of tequila. For
additional time bonuses, a rider may gain an extra minute
for every shot consumed. There is no limit on this.
- Finish location will be at Adam's place. A shot of rum
must be consumed before crossing the finish line to end the
Rum And Stoke. This will be followed with a barbeque
(included with your entry fees).
Extra:
- Entrance fee covers alcohol not consumed in a bar. The bar
money must be provided by the participant.
- Time bonuses are not mandatory and any or all may be used
during the race. This is left to the discretion of the individual
rider.
Prizes:
- 1st prize is currently a case of beer.
- Top of the World is getting prizes from Sector Nine and Landyacthz (Such as longboard decks, etc)!
- There will be prizes awarded to the best dressed rider along with other random prizes for things!
- Corey and I are looking into other possible prizes however, any
prize donations will be greatly appreciated and will add to the
awesomeness of this already awesome race.
This is going to be an AMAZINGLY FUN RACE and is one installment of the Ottawa Longboardolympics. Anyone can come from anywhere. DON'T MISS OUT!!!
note: Corey and I will provide as many accomodations as possible to those who need it. For more information please e-mail rumandstoke@hotmail.com

Re: 1st Ever...RUM AND STOKE RACE!!!!!
Ya, I'm sorry, but I'm silly and don't understand French that well, BUT I do like the helmet...it would probably serve you well in the race! And F, if you had a question about the course, it's going to be mostly on flat bike trails, and most other ways will be on unbusy roads to make the race as injury-free as possible. You guys should come!!! You're not that far away and it should prove to be a fun and entertaining event! Hope to see you guys there. If you have any questions you can e-mail us at rumandstoke@hotmail.com, or call us until Friday at (613) 338-2885.
